Many of the modern diseases that affect a high proportion of the world’s population are related to energy. That is, poor energy storage or energy production strongly contributes to the onset of these diseases.
One of the prime examples is Obesity; considered an energy storage problem due to an oversupply of nutrients. This is particularly relevant to Australia; officially the fattest country in the world.
Whilst the social reasons for this rise in obesity are many and complex, the burden on the Australian health system has become unsustainable.
Adding to the fiscal burden is a corresponding rise in diabetes. The incidence of diabetes has risen by more than 20% over the past decade with 7% of all Australians currently treated for diabetes. Further, an additional 16% of Australians have Insulin Resistance; a precursor to Hypertension and diabetes.
Apart from Obesity, Diabetes and Insulin Resistance, other examples of energy diseases that have reached epidemic proportions over the past decade include Metabolic Syndrome, Chronic Fatigue and various Sleep Disorders.
While many diseases and injuries are prevented or detected at an early stage using different pathology techniques, this is often not the case with energy diseases.
In fact, the different causes of energy dysfunction are generally poorly diagnosed due to a lack of appropriate energy testing.
Performing regular Energy Profiling using indirect calorimetry techniques would greatly assist the general population to prevent or manage the onset of energy related diseases.
Biotech Energy provides Health Practitioners with the diagnostic hardware, interpretive software, training and support to provide Energy Profiling as a new service to detect and manage a range of energy diseases.
